"'Blocks' draws on a body of work created by the artist in the mid-1980s that paired small-scale sculptures - a perforated tin canister, a simple wooden structure set on a concrete base, a piece of broken cinderblock on a miniature tabletop - with black-and-white photographs in which the same modest assemblages, set against dramatic backdrops of sky and clouds and photographed from below, were transformed into what appeared to be monumental architectural structures or rock formations. ...
