Everything Could be Seen

description

Exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with show held June - September 2004. Contributions by Ariella Azoulay, Raeda Adon, Iman Abu-Hmid, Daniel Bauer, Aïm Deüelle Lüski, Michel Heiman, Sandi Hilal, Sharif Waked, Alex Levac, Avi Mograbi, Faten Fawzy Nastas, Alessandro Petti, Miki Kratzman, David Reeb and Dina Shenhav."Although the evidences are photographed, documented in video, or represented in a painted image, the disaster usually remains invisible. Not anyone who looks sees. In order to see a special intention is needed - one that is expressed in the viewer''''s responsibility to the seen. The exhibition examines the gap between the presence of horror in the various images presented in it and turning the horror into a cry of distress and a testimony for a state of emergency, between the horror that is present but is not seen and the horror that is seen that sets the viewer as morally responsible for what she sees. "Everything could be seen", people will say in the future. The exhibition wishes to claim that this future is already here." -- publisher''''s statement. Texts in Arabic, Hebrew and English.
