Baldessari Sings LeWitt

[Second Edition]

John Baldessari, Sol LeWitt

Baldessari Sings LeWitt

description

Collection of the 35 statements on conceptual art by Sol LeWitt and the accompanying musical notation by Baldessari for his performance of the statements as song. "I'd like to sing for you some of these sentences that Sol LeWitt has written on conceptual art. I feel this is a tribute to him. I think that these sentences have been hidden too long in the pages of exhibition catalogs, and that perhaps by me singing them for you, it will bring these sentences to a much larger public. I'll use the same ordering and numbering, that he has. I'll try to pause between each statement, for clarity. And maybe then occassionally I will have to sing one sentence over more than once, and that I might not get the phrasing correct." -- artist's statement.
