Press Release Re : An Anniversary Celebration for Mary Moylan - One Year Underground

description

Vintage photocopy press release announcing a rally to mark Mary Moylan's second year underground, held at the Women's House of Detention in Greenwich Village on April 9, 1969. "On May 17, 1968, Mary Moylan and eight others, including Fathers Phil and Dan Berrigan, burned draft files with homemade napalm at a selective service office in Catonsville, Maryland. Choosing not to serve her two-year sentence, Mary has remained underground, primarily with women...Sisters (and brothers) then are coming together on April 9th to celebrate her resistance by bailing out women from the house of detention. Principal speakers will include Robin Morgan, editor of 'Sisterhood is Powerful,' Charlene Mitchell from the Angela Davis Defense Committee and Marjorie Melville, also a member of the Catonsville Nine. In addition, a women's theatre group will perform." -- from press release.
