First large-scale exhibition of sculptures placed within public spaces. Exhibition featured perhaps world's first "earthwork," Claes Oldenburg's "Placid City Monument," 108 cubic feet of Central Park surface excavated and reinserted northwest of Cleopatra's Needle and behind the Metropolitan Museum of Art - a gift by the artist to the City of New York.
