Published in the early 1900s "The Essay on Silence" by Fra Elbertus [Elbert Hubbard], was produced by The Roycrofters at their Shop in East Aurora, NY. It features leather covers with embossed title and completely blank pages in the interior, predating by decades John Cage's famous performance of "4'33." includes a four page text insert titled, humorously, "The Essay on Silence Revised Edition with Corrections and Emendations to Date" and featuring reviews of the book.
