Sunlight Convergence / Solar Burn

Charles Ross

description

An extensive project concerning the sun, and the understanding of energy, space and time. Light is charted through "solar burns," which Ross describes as "direct materializations of light energy," and "discrete, tangible images drawn by light itself." The burns were created by light being focused through a large stationary lens and onto a specially prepared wooden plank. The project lasted for nearly two years, between September 23, 1971 - September 22, 1972. The book consists of numerous diagrams and photographs in both black-and-white and color. Includes extensive texts by the artist.
