Marcel Duchamp : From the Green Box

description

An artists' book consisting of the translated text from Duchamp's "Green Box," set in a design approximating the Duchamp's original layout. Designed by Henry Steiner, with preface and translation by George Heard Hamilton of texts by Marcel Duchamp. "These 25 jottings 'from the Green Box' are among Marcel Duchamp's notes for 'The Bride.' They have been chosen to illustrate the poetic and philosophical magic of his though and are published for the first time in English with his approval." -- text from end-flap of dust-jacket. Book's covers reproduce original fragments of Duchamp's handwritten notes. Dust-jacket, designed by Henry Steiner, incorporated a trompe l'oei effect with image of Duchamp, text fragments and a paper clip. This is the first of four versions of "The Bride Stripped Bare By Her Bachelors, Even" typographic versions by Richard Hamilton and George Heard Hamilton.
