Exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with show held June 12 - 14, 1989. Essays by Béatrice Parent, Marijan Susovski, Daniele Bloch, Daniel Soutif, Michel Nuridsany. In her essay on the gallery, Susovski writes that it "takes as its starting point that the market chooses the art to be exhibited in galleries. This disinformation around the artist in society (created by economical-merchant relationships) is chiefly characterised by a putting aside or by a long awaiting in galleries' antechambers for young artists. That is why the Galerie des Locataires had gathered together and exhibited work by young people or by unknown artists, that is to say those in whom 'the art market system' was not interested so as to express its disagreement with the galleries' official policy. Its activity was made up of sending invitation or putting advertisements in the papers: the artists' works arrived at a poste restante address in Milan, Dusseldorf, Paris, Zagreb, New York, etc. Afterwards Ida Biard took it upon herself to make them known by exhibiting in her 'French Window,' in her apartment or in other places." Artists represented include Christian Boltanski, Bernard Borgeaud, Daniel Buren, André Cadare, Radomir Damnjan, Fernando de Filipi, Alain Fleischer, Nina Kujundzic, Annette Messager, Sarkis, Goran Trbuljak, Zarko Vijatovic, Ida Biard, Philippe Cazal. Includes chronology of exhibitions from 1972 - 1989.
