11 Tableaux

Edward Kienholz, Pontus Hultén

description

Exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with show held at Kunsthaus, Zurich, February - March 1971; traveled to the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, May - July 1971. Includes photographs of Kienholz's Tableaux, as well as texts from a taped interview of the artist by Pontus Hultén. In a brief introduction, Hultén writes that "Kienholz' Tableaux seem to involve themselves with very precise and special situations, a whore house in Nevada, a particular American car, a certain bar in Los Angeles. Yet at the same time they are very universal and what is seen and experienced in them somehow concerns everybody." Catalogue modeled on the Stockholm catalogue produced by K.G.P. [Pontus] Hultén and Katja Waldén. Texts in German and English.
