Dreaming The Gokstadt : Northern Lands and Islands

Thomas Joshua Cooper

Dreaming The Gokstadt : Northern Lands and Islands

description

Artist's book / exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with a traveling exhibition that began at Graeme Murray, Edinburg, in 1985. Includes texts by the artist, and quotes by Barry Lopez, Basho, and others. The title stems from a 1000 year old viking ship salvaged from a bog in the village of Gokstadt, Norway. The ship and its memory were the central focus of Cooper's four year project. This is the second book in a proposed cycle of five books by the artist.
