This book is part of Smith's Coffin series made between 1965 and 1967 and which totaled twenty-five handmade and self-published artist's books produced with a Xerox 914 copy machine that the artist leased and experimented with. A similar publication, "Coffin : Time Piece, Pink Rose," is held by the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles (2013.M.23).
