Everything Went Black : Previously Unreleased Black Flag Recordings, 1978 - 1981

description

This two-disk album by Black Flag published by SST Records is a thing of legend. Suits, lawyers, civil strife, name changes. This is the first printing of the album, which, in protest of their distributer, issued the album without Black Flag's name on it anywhere: every instance of its appearance is blacked out. The cover art is by Raymond Pettibon and the verso of this pressing [not the one pictured above] has four illustrations by Pettibon of his trademark flyer's for Black Flag's gigs as well as a long essay by "Spot" - I kid you not - on the album's history. Included is also a Pettibon poster that in fact does say Black Flag and reads "5 suicide attempts and counting. No, not her -- her boyfriends" and an Everything Went Black sticker. Beyond the iconic elements of Everything Went Black, it also contains two kick-ass LPs that show Black Flag at full mast, err, strength, err, potential.
